Garegin Nushikyan Thinks That Taron Margaryan “Is Currently the Best Mayor”

April 23,2013 11:52

“I trust him, if I am standing by him,” Garegin Nushikyan, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group who was present at the campaign meeting of the RPA in the Kentron district, said yesterday in response to a question of www.aravot.am whether he trusted Taron Margaryan as a mayor. Mr. Nushikyan diplomatically evaded our question whether he shared the idea of the members of the RPA that Taron Margaryan had been the best mayor in the past 20 years. He said: “I agree that Taron Margaryan is currently the best mayor. Every period has had its positive and negative mayor. He is the best mayor of this period, and I think that he will be the best mayor in the upcoming 4 years too.” We asked Mr. Nushikyan to point out something negative that existed and he would like Taron Margaryan to fix. “I would not use the word ‘negative,’ but there are issues that are not solved, and we expect that they will be solved,” Mr. Nushikyan said, clarifying that the problems were related to elevators, roofs, dangerous structures, transportation etc. We also inquired why political forces had engaged in fierce struggle for the office of the mayor of

Yerevan, in his opinion, while the presidency of the Republic of Armenia had not been attached importance to in the not so distant past. Let us remind that the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), and the Armenian National Congress (ANC) didn’t participate in the presidential election, but each of them wants in its own way to take power in Yerevan. “It will be hard for me to answer that question on their behalf. Ask them!” Garegin Nushikyan said.
