The image of unjust countries

July 17,2013 13:17

We have the habit of making a national tragedy from everything, fear, in what situation the nation appeared, oh, Armenian fortune, Oops, that Turk, those Russians … It seems that we need a reason to feel unhappy and complain of the injustice of the world. The crash happened recently near Podolsk is a good opportunity, which took the lives of 18 people, and the fact that the Russian law enforcement officials seemed to circumventing the law with regard to the suspect of the case, the citizen of Armenia Hrachia Harutyunyan. Yesterday, an elderly woman came up to me and said that she did not sleep a wink because Hrach was brought in to the court dressed in a women’s robe. I do not have the habit to debate on the street, but, at the same moment, I thought as to how many nights the relatives of 18 victims will not sleep.

And the problem is not in Armenians, or Russians, nor in the our bitter fate, but entirely in a different place.

If a Russian was in the place of Hrach, wouldn’t he be humiliated, haven’t you read or heard about how RF police officers treat with detainees, regardless of their nationality? But if the accident had occurred in Armenia, would our law enforcement treat properly with the suspect driver? The problem, therefore, is that Armenia and Russia are not legal states, but not due to the fact that Russians or Armenians live in these countries. On the contrary, I have the impression that our two nations are more inclined to spiritual values than other “more developed” nations. Simply the latter, over the centuries, have been able to establish normal states, and we, over 20 years, still not. We continue automatically to live in tsarist Russia and the Soviet Union, both of which were unjust countries. In particular, in accordance with the tradition of these countries, when a person appears in “cop shop”, they can do everything with him, humiliate, beat, torture, and so on.

To tell the truth, I am not so much concerned about dressed in gown, what one of my colleagues has observed: apparently the suspect being shocked and injured is injected some medications and dragged to court. Will he be able to conduct adequately at the court in such a situation? Does the law provide his protection? Doesn’t this attitude indicate that the initial investigation is looking for only one sinner, on whom the entire blame will fall? This is why we need the active intervention of our embassy and the Armenian community, which has not yet observed.

I am not intentionally referring to the very nature of the case, guilty, not guilty, how guilty Hrach is. I am just surprised at how people consider themselves not only traffic experts, but arrive at indictment or acquittal verdicts from Yerevan to Moscow. And this is the psychological consequence of not legal state.
