Rule of Law party’s announcement to be an opposition does not cause discomfort to PAP

PAP parliamentary faction has yet to decide whether to participate in the voting of the Speaker of the National Assembly or not. On this occasion, in the interview with Aravot.am, the faction member and party spokesperson Tigran Urikhanyan said, “Today, at the faction meeting, many important issues, economic sector projects were discussed. You know that we always emphasize the shortage of work in the country, hunger, emigration, medicine, and hopelessness of people in need for bread, and we do not see any other priority, as long as these problems are available. We need to do a day early steps towards solution of these problems.” At today’s PAP faction meeting, a couple of new economic projects submitted to the National Assembly for discussion were mainly considered, they touched upon also the projects submitted earlier. “In the end, among non-priority issues, they discussed the issue of voting of the candidate nominated by the political majority. I assume that tomorrow we will have the decision,” said Tigran Urikhanyan.

Yesterday, in the interview with the journalists at the National Assembly, the partners of the Quartet: the ANC and ARF faction leaders, told that their headed factions will not participate in the voting of the Speaker of the National Assembly. In the case of ARF, it also became clear that it is not a move against the personality of Galust Sahakyan. “Individuals should talk about an attitude to a person, each by its attitude. PAP as a political entity has always been indifferent to any manifestations about this-or-that physical person in any public position, because it has always been secondary for us to know what natural person has taken this-or-that office. It is important for us to know what capacity of implementing functional liabilities given person has, what he is doing under his job duties, obligations and rights, and what he is doing under the state governance. It applies to all past, present and future officials,” said Tigran Urikhanyan. To our question of his personal treatment to Galust Sahakyan, after a moment of thinking, PAP MP said, “My attitude is absolutely no way expressing and unemotional.” Pertaining to possible tasks, he gave a rhetorical response to speak about it in more details after the decision of the faction.

To our question of what about already accomplished appointments and reappointments in the government staff, whether their logic inspires hope that the problems about which the PAP has repeatedly alarmed, will enter into the solution phase, Tigran Urikhanyan answered that question leads to predictions field, and he would not like to enter this field. In any case, he added, “There are people, regardless of this government, who have ever worked efficiently or inefficiently. The same people in another situation, in the system that makes working effectively they can work effectively, or vice versa. Being in the state governance, do you currently meet the expectations over your tasks under the public order? Do you meet the needs of the community? Do you conduct good governance? Are you in your place? No, then, good-bye. I do not see, accept, and forgive approximation here. A public official, at any time when assuming the office, should be honest, work efficiently and be useful to the society and the state. Hence, we will talk during the actual situation when the government program will be presented. I hope that it will differ from the previous government program that was not associated with the country and the people.”

We inquired whether Hovik Abrahamyan’s moves with regard to eliminating the component “mandatory” from the funded pension system, attending the sessions of the Quartet and collaborative work are encouraging, the PAP Party spokesman said that in his estimation, the acting prime minister’s, at least, the practice is drastically different from the previous one, from “monosyllabic, frothy, and offensive” wording, style, and generally from diction and style, which Tigran Sargsyan was using in communicating with the public, and the deputies. As to what will happen in the future, time will tell. To our question that yesterday, the Rule of Law party declared itself an opposition, how the PAP MP perceives this reality, after long thinking and selecting phrases, Tigran Urikhanyan said that he wants to see actual operations and activities, and as for the emotional outbursts, he does not have them. To the question of whether the Republican Party’s coalition partner, who also suffered numerous rebukes on this occasion, is now in the opposition, whereas PAP continues to remain in the alternative field, does not cause him discomfort, the PAP MP said that it is due to the result of actual activities, unhidden, sincere and honest actions that we occur in any situation. “We feel discomfort from the fact that the country is regressing, lagging behind compared to many other states. Whereas, in 2014, we should have solved all social, economic, household, legal, and moral problems of our few-numbered population. We not only failed solving them, moreover, the situation became deteriorated. And as to which political force is doing something to change the situation results in formation of the attitude over given political force,” said Tigran Urikhanyan.
