The problem is the duality

December 27,2016 13:09

I do not understand when people are using every opportunity to say something bad about their “unfavorite” politician.  For example, the crash of the aircraft on Sunday was not the best excuse to scourge Russian President Vladimir Putin.  A tragedy happened, a similar thing could have happened to an American, French or Japanese aircraft.  Bearing malice and making far-reaching political and moral conclusions, I think, it is wrong.  We must commiserate and share people’s pain and that’s it.

The more I think about the more I am convinced that the purpose driven by a campaign and personal problems is to “slam”, and except “giving satisfaction” to your and your like-minded people’s heart, this “slamming” does not produce any results.  It is more effective to try to understand the fundamental mistakes which the responsible officials of this or that state perform.  Everything comes from this mistake, the rest: crime, lawlessness, and disasters are derivatives.

It seems to me that Putin’s and Erdoğan’s mistake is the duality.  They want to have modern states.  Being a wise man, these leaders understand that otherwise is impossible in the 21st century: you will “sink.”  On the other hand, this absolutely natural desire is accompanied by the imperial “phantom pains”, and with determination to establish a rigid authoritarian regime.  This controversy is the reason that despite tens of thousands of detainees, the situation in Turkey, anyway, is unstable.  I think there will be shocks in Russia too (which is not beneficial to us at all) if this country’s domestic and foreign policy does not become consistent.

Erdoğan, on the one hand, has submitted an application to the European Union for a membership, on the other hand, he says that all the former territories of the Ottoman Empire (Syria, Greece, Bulgaria) belong to him.  On the one hand, he says that he is fighting against the Assad regime and is openly supporting the groups waging this armed fight but when a young man bearing the ideas of this fight kills the Russian ambassador, he announces that the young man was a Gülen and wanted to cause to fight with Russia.  In fact, the young man was “Erdoğan supporter” rather than Gülen.

Putin, on the one hand, is one of the richest people in his country, and its entourage and teammates have yachts and palaces all over the world and travel exclusively by a “business class”, are wearing fantastic price watches, most of their children are living in the West but on the other hand, the Stalin asceticism is served as an ideal, executing for one stolen nail, bearing sufferings for the sake of homeland, while the Russian “spiritual values” are opposed to the “spoilt West.”  The poor people may still believe in these fairy tales and rejoice that “the Crimea is theirs” but it seems to me that it will not last long.

The manifestations of similar duality and inconsistency with the mentioned leaders are numerous.  Eventually, they need to determine either this side or that side.
