August 18,2026 15:15

On the seventh day of his Biblical road trip across Armenia, Coach Johnny Mouradian spent the day in Vayk, where the final Group 2 tournament of the second annual Armenian Sixes Lacrosse Championship was held.

After six games and plenty of goals, the final standings were:

1st place — Metsamor
2nd place — Kaghtsrashen

In an interview with Aravot.am, Johnny Mouradian, co-founder of the Armenian Lacrosse Federation, shared his impressions of Vayk: “I have never been in this part of Armenia before. It is beautiful-like a vineyard area, a wine country. Fantastic. The young lacrosse girls really liked the sport, and I saw many of them wearing crosses. They were so cute.”

Coach Johnny was also impressed by the progress Armenian boys and girls are making in lacrosse: “All that we want to do is create a positive social impact and be impactful. We now have two Armenian players who want to play professional lacrosse and represent the national team. It is just a fantastic feeling that we are creating opportunities and changing the lives of these kids. Watching the young athletes play with such sportsmanship was phenomenal. It was a great day for Armenian lacrosse.”

Young players, big dreams

During the interview, two young lacrosse players from the Metsamor team spoke about their dreams and goals.

Tigran Sargsyan, from Metsamor, has been playing lacrosse for two years. “I have been playing lacrosse for two years, and I become better every day. For me, lacrosse is a comfort sport. After I graduate from school in two years, I would like to be on the Armenian national lacrosse team. I want to help my national team win many championships, and I want to become a legend of lacrosse”,- he told.

Varazdat Mkrtchyan, also from Metsamor, has been playing lacrosse for almost two years. “I like the athleticism of lacrosse. It is a very beautiful sport. First of all, my biggest goal is to move to the USA next year. I want to play for the Armenian national team, and I also want to play high school lacrosse, then move on to college lacrosse. My biggest goal in life is to play in the Premier Lacrosse League”,- he said.

Mr. Mouradian is deeply inspired by the commitment of these young athletes.

“They are two of the best players now. Year after year, they have practiced so much that Metsamor is now the number one team. Both of these young men are also really working on their English. Their English has improved so much from year to year. It is amazing.”

Coach Johnny is pleased with the progress of the movement to connect Armenian youth with lacrosse, the English language, and faith. He says he sees a strong commitment to the development of lacrosse in Armenia and is happy that the players are following his Biblical road trip and taking part in the daily Bible readings.

As always, Coach Johnny included a Bible reading in his daily program and encouraged Armenians to invite their friends and family members to church.

In Vayk, the Bible reading came from Corinthians 2. “And what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, just as God said: ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be my people.’ Therefore, come out from among them and be separate,”-says the Lord,- “and do not touch anything unclean, and I will receive you. And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me,”- says the Lord Almighty.

Mr. Mouradian is currently on a 12-day road trip across Armenia, visiting 12 remarkable locations and sharing 12 daily Bible-reading videos across all six Armenian Lacrosse social media platforms from August 11 through August 22, 2026. The second annual Armenian Sixes Lacrosse Championships are also taking place in Armenia during his visit.
