President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev signed the promulgation of the text of the amended after December 11 referendum Constitution of Kyrgyzstan, AKIpress Agency reports.
According to the source, the ceremony of signing took place on January 27 at the president’s place with Prime Minister Sooronbai Jeenbekov and other top officials attending.
“Dear citizens, participants of the event, on 11 December 2016 the citizens supported amendments [to the Constitution]. 60 amendments were made to the Constitution in total. These changes made sure the Constitution has no inaccuracies and contradictions,” said Atambayev, as quoted by the agency.
The original edition will be kept at the President’s Administration. The government, Parliament, Supreme Court, and Constitutional Chamber will have verified Constitution’s copies on their hold. The heads of these bodies took the copies.
The text will be promulgated on January 28.
