Vahagn Khachatryan on PM’s pledges: ‘Pre-election vote-buying’

March 18,2017 09:26

On March 17, at the “Pastark” press club, the journalists asked the candidate of “Congress-PPA” Alliance running for the parliament member and economist Vahagn Khachatryan to talk about the Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan pledges.  Vahagn Khachatryan said, “I was thinking that they actually would not be pre-election pledges, and I was thinking that it is the result of the work which the government managed to achieve in September, after the formation of the new government.  But now, I am convinced that these are just PR moves and pre-election campaign.”

According to him, it would be fair if they were made after the elections or in January-February months, “I would be glad that these pledges become true even in this pre-election round.  Let us, the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, benefit from this election campaign.  But let them know that this is no different from all other pledges that they give, against which the same representatives of the government are saying critical words.  This is the same pre-election bribe and is no different when it is done by the government publicly.  Here, the Central Electoral Commission must express its attitude too.”
