“The univocal decision of the Executive Body of the Republican Party proves the existence of exclusive rule in the style of Stalin in this Party,” said advocate Artur Sakunts, addressing the announcement by the Spokesperson of the Republican Party about the Executive body’s univocal decision to nominate Serzh Sargsyan as a candidate for Prime Minister.
According to the advocate, the decision of the Republican Party about presenting Serzh Sargsyan as a Prime Minister candidate substantiates more evidently the conclusion given by “Freedom House” NGO.
“In this case, Serzh Sargsyan takes the responsibility of establishing a harsh authoritarian system in Armenia, a person willing to establish democracy would refuse himself irrespective of the fact that he had announced several years ago that he would not pretend for the position of either the President or the Prime Minister.
The leading party not only proved the conclusion by “Freedom House” about deepening the authoritarian regime, but also made a step towards that direction. This was not only a step directed to the establishment of harsh authoritarian system, but also a step towards establishing dictatorship the “benefits” of which a lot of people will enjoy. People that do not care a bit about the events taking place in Armenia, and who present Serzh Sargsyan as the only pro-Western person.”
