As we have already informed, according to Judge Vardan Grigoryan’s decision, the detention of Andrias Ghukasyan, a political figure accused of assisting the “Sasna Tsrer” group in organizing mass disorders and seizing the regiment on July 29, 2016, was ceased and the detainee was released.
He told journalists: “This decision of the court was conditioned by the presence of citizens. If there was no public support, they would not release me”.

Then he expressed his greetings towards the “My step” people’s movement: “First of all, I thank those who gave us this victory. This decision of the court was made because the situation in Armenia has changed. Justice should be restored”.

Then Andrias Ghukasyan expressed conviction: “Soon the ECHR will confirm that I was a political prisoner. This decision of the court will make changes in the legal system. Detention process should be limited, primarily in case of political prisoners”.
