American-Armenian great benefactor, doctor Oyunjyan has passed away on July 16. Gyumri hospital confirmed the news. For a few days, he had lain in this hospital. He had a chronic illness for a long time.
Let us remind you that he did another charity by surprising Gyumri residents at the district of Tekstilagortsner (textile makers) on his 98th birthday, 3 days ago. He took part in the ceremony celebrating the start of the construction of a philharmonic concert hall in Gyumri and put the first stone of the Philharmonic concert hall in person.
The doctor has invested his whole fortune in post-earthquake Gyumri development by building a school, a school of arts and crafts.
He passed away in his fatherland, in the city he loved. As Mr. Lachikyan, the director of “Oyunjyan” foundation mentioned during the ceremony, American doctors had banned doctor Oyunjyan from taking a plane, but he did everything for reaching his fatherland for making another charity.
