July 26,2018 16:32

One of the 19th-century Armenian churches in the Aksehir community of province of Konya will turn into “House of Satirists”. Within the framework of the cultural project funded by the Developmental Department of Konya, it was decided to renovate the Armenian Church and transform into a cultural house.

According to the mayor of Aksehir, 85 percent of the reconstruction works have been completed. It is envisaged that the church will be the third cultural center of Aksehir. The mayor noted that 2 million Turkish Liras were allocated for the renovation and reconstruction of the church.

Let us add that the Armenian church in Aksehir was built in the 19th century and after the Armenian Genocide it was abandoned and slowly destroyed. The church served to the Armenian community of 500 people at the time, but now there are almost no Armenians in Aksehir.
