‘Poghos-Petros’: New site for diasporan Armenians

November 30,2018 16:41

This is not about Hovhannes Tumanyan’s “Poghos-Petros” ballad, but instead, it’s about a website created by Vahan Ayvazyan. Vahan Ayvazyan lives in Slovenia, which does not have a big Armenian community. He decided to create a website for all Armenians living in the diaspora. He had several motives, including finding Armenians and talking to them, but besides that, he wanted his children to be able to speak in Armenian on the website. The other reason was so that he could get rid of his lavash oven, which is not an easy thing to do in Slovenia.

The website’s purpose is to help Armenians living or traveling in Europe through providing them with different services. It gives them the opportunity to provide one another with these services. There are seven different sections on the website: real estate selling, events, networking, carpooling, selling/gifting, and buying/receiving. Users can register by visiting the poghos-petros.com website. Once registered, users can upload their announcement from any country.

“The website does not organize anything. Instead, it provides an opportunity for people to share events that they have already organized, but they can also share different events. For example, they can share about the upcoming Tigran Hamasyan concert in Prague. The networking section provides an opportunity for users to get to know one another,” Vahan said.

The site’s logo represents two P letters for Poghos and Petros since it shows a discussion between two people. Besides that, it sounds good, and you want to know more about what it is.
