On March 6-8, Human Rights Ombudsman of the RA Artak Beglaryan in Brussels met with some members of the European Parliament, EU officials and non-governmental organizations, discussing issues about raising Artsakh’s involvement in European programs.
During the meetings, A. Beglaryan emphasized that regardless of the political status, Artsakh residents should have the opportunity to participate especially in European programs concerning human rights. He attached importance to the active involvement of both the European Union and European non-governmental organizations in the promotion of democracy and civil society and the protection of human rights inArtsakh.
The Ombudsman discussed with the representatives of some non-governmental organizations the possibilities of further cooperation by getting concrete agreements in that direction.
As a reminder, on March 6, the current and former Human Rights Ombudsmen of Republic of Artsakh Artak Beglaryan and Ruben Melikyan participated in the European Parliament panel discussion on “Armenophobia: historical and present-day resurgence” organized by Armenian European Federation of Justice and Democracy and Tufenkyan Foundation with the support of the member of the European Parliament Elene Theocharous.
