“The tensions between Turkey and Russia in Syria can have an impact on the Artsakh conflict. Are the Armenian authorities and the Armenian public prepared for different scenarios?” political analyst and the director of the Politieconomy Research Institute, Andranik Tevanyan, said during a discussion panel titled “Current Phase of Russian-Turkish Relations and Its Impact on Artsakh” at the Politeconomy Research Institute regarding the airstrike on Turkish forces in Idlib, which caused tensions in Russian-Turkish relations.
According to Tevanyan, Turkey may try to use Azerbaijan to get revenge within the context of the events in Syria.
“It may try; there are different scenarios. There are some in Turkey and Azerbaijan who find that there needs to be a repeat of the April War on a larger scale. Since Russia is simply not involved in the Artsakh security system, that is a weak area. Unlike Artsakh, Russia has influence in Syria. Are we prepared for that? The authorities are dividing society in order to resolve internal issues, which is harmful to our security,” Andranik Tevanyan expressed.
Tevanyan said that Nikol Pashinyan’s statement during the “Yes” campaign that Serzh Sargsyan’s government paid $42 million to buy weapons that are worthless and do not work was unacceptable.

On the other hand, according to Tevanyan, the referendum campaigns are a primary way for the coronavirus to spread. Other countries have banned large events and are attempting to limit interpersonal meetings.
Andranik Tevanyan said that the authorities are busy trying to get rid of the Constitutional Court judges instead of focusing on important issues.
