“I am simply amazed. Azerbaijan’s political goals and plans are being repeated in their entirety. It is shocking. I have criticized the former authorities so much, including the third president, second president, and even the first, but this is the first time we are facing a situation in which the Turkish-Azerbaijani political style or goals are being repeated,” the first Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Larisa Alaverdyan, said in an interview with reporters regarding the current Armenian authorities, while specifically noting the inactivity of the National Assembly, which has the exclusive right to protect the interests of our country in foreign policy.
When asked about why she did not mention the institution of the Armenian president, Alaverdyan responded, “To avoid any negative comments about human dignity, I must say that his role has reached zero. Even the fact that he was not in Armenia for a while and has now returned has done nothing visible for our country. Is it truly a sign of wisdom that he can avoid making the situation worse, or is it just a passing or situational attitude? Only time will tell. I must say that others would be much more active in his position no matter what it would do for their position in the future. We are dealing with a different psychological state and that’s a pity.”
