During an election campaign in the Berdavan community of the Tavush province, the acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan remembered native Karen Ghazaryan, who left his home to drink water, but due to different circumstances, he found himself on the other side of the border, and he became a “sabotage-terrorist” according to videos shared by Azerbaijan. Pashinyan said, “Fake trials are still taking place in Azerbaijan. Remember, Karen was also sentenced to 20 years in prison, but now, thank God, he has returned to his homeland. When I meet the relatives of our captive brothers, I always bring up Karen’s example. You see, there was a trial, they sentenced him to 20 years in prison, but despite that, Karen is now at home with his family.”
Pashinyan said that after November 9, lies were being spread about Noyemberyan. “Even now, they made up legends about how I allegedly signed some documents and I was giving away some land or enclaves, but some people came and stopped me at the last minute. These are all fantasies. There are at least two people who have been present during all discussions. Who said that it should be signed, who said that it should not be signed under any circumstances, how did it happen that we removed that point from that document and we removed other episodes from the document? In such situations, you know, there are times when someone has to take responsibility and take action. I bow to all our victims, but I also want to emphasize that during this time
I have thanked hundreds of mothers for campaigning for the November 9 document. I want you to know that we fought to the point where it made sense to fight. When we saw that continuing our fight no longer has the basis that it needed to have, we stopped that process. There are times when people need to take personal responsibility and take steps. I cannot say that I am happy to have taken on that responsibility. I am not happy, but that step needed to be taken in that situation, and as a result, we have saved tens of thousands of our soldiers’ lives.”
