Ask me, what sentence have you heard most often in your nearly 28 years as an editor? And I will answer: that sentence is “you’re carrying out orders.” Variation: “I know whose order you’re carrying out.” Or in the form of a rhetorical question: “whose mill are you pouring water in?” For the sake of justice, I should say that recently I have personally heard such expressions less often. But recently, the spokesperson of one of the officials made such accusations again, and I thought that it is not so much a way to justify, but a very common psychological defense mechanism.
The problem is as follows: the majority of Armenians, and especially the bureaucrats and the rich, think that they are such angels and, of course, devotees of the nation that no one can honestly think that they are wrong in any matter. The last example was given by Gagik Tsarukyan, who had ups and downs in the political arena, but did many good deeds as a philanthropist. However, some people may like the idea of putting a statue of Christ, and others (including me) may not like it.
It’s normal, you should take it easy. However, the businessman made a statement in which he again puts forward the idea of ”order.” “There would also be people who would order and organize “against” public sentiments. I imagined all this very well…” It turns out that humanity is divided into two parts: one part is delighted with this or that idea, the other orders and organizes some things.
The problem is not the statue. Armenia really has much more important problems. And one of our most important problems is that we do not accept anyone’s right to disagree with us. If someone does not agree, we immediately look for some conspiracies and orders. And isn’t it possible that there are millions of people who think in a different way, and all those people are normal, decent, sincere?
