“During the last 1-1.5 months, we have received information on the escalations, meetings, and issues raised by officials who visited Armenia. And that information has served as a base for us to come to the corresponding conclusions and comprehend the opinions voiced and discussed internationally on the Karabakh issue. We should present the real picture to the public. And reality sometimes contains bitter truths and some unpleasant topics. Still, we have to consider all that,” Arayik Harutyunyan, the president of the Republic of Artsakh, during an interview on Artsakh Public TV, referred to the content of meetings Armenian officials had.
“Look at the US’s activity toward the peace treaty, the relationship between Armenia and Azerbaijan overall. Look at the numerous phone calls or meetings that Europe, Charles Michel, and Macron had with the president of Azerbaijan and the prime minister of Armenia … It becomes obvious to us that reason for all of those conversations and meetings is mainly the treaty, the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, and somewhere in the middle of those discussions, the Karabakh issue is brought up.
If conflict before the war, the main topic of discussion was the Karabakh in their wording, and for us, it was the issue of the state and future of the Republic of Artsakh, then today, the main issue has become the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the military actions. So in this context, we have to estimate the situation soberly and choose a political course of action that would either be favorable or perspective for us. And go by it, without getting distracted from the international norm of Artsakh’s nation’s right of self-determination,” the president of Artsakh Republic added.
“During every meeting, we state that the right of self-determination of the Artsakh people is not an object for discussions,” he emphasized.
