Holy and Immortal Liturgy was held in Gyumri Holy Martyrs Armenian Catholic Church in the presence of Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Envoy of Pope Francis, Secretary of State of the Holy See.
After the liturgy, the relatives of those captured in Khtsaberd approached him, asking him to hand over to the Pope to intercede and help return their sons. Cardinal Pietro Paroli said: “We are close to you; we are close to you from the heart. The goal of my humanitarian mission at the moment is exactly this, so that we can see, within the limits of the possibility, if at least not all of them, we can return some of them home. Also, we have discussed about this issue in Baku; so far, we have not registered any concrete results, but we have taken the first steps, and we hope that we will be able to solve this issue soon.
As you have asked, the Holy Pope is doing everything possible in this direction so that the captives are released and return home. These are steps that will contribute to the establishment of peace.”
