“What is happening in Artsakh today is like genocide; the former prosecutor of the International Court of Justice qualifies this as genocide. The four principles that define the phenomenon as genocide are recognized by the international community and experts,” Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said at the press conference held in Goris on August 30. She appealed to the French President to use France’s influence in the UN Security Council to pass a resolution on respecting the rights of the people of Artsakh.
“We call to respect international law; Artsakh Armenians are under siege against their will, and the blockade is being implemented in violation of international law and the 2020 ceasefire declaration,” she said. Mrs. Hidalgo noted that the UN Secretary-General’s Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide uses the same word to describe what is happening today as genocide and ethnic cleansing by an authoritarian regime against a people who only demand respect for the rights of any nation and any person.
Anne Hidalgo personally escorted the ten vehicles loaded with humanitarian goods for Artsakh to Kornidzor.
