Cooperation in the economic sphere between Russia and Azerbaijan has positive dynamics and good development prospects, Russian President Vladimir Putin said after talks with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

“These almost 1,300 enterprises working in the market of Azerbaijan evidence that our [economic] situation is evolving positively and have goods development prospects,” Putin said.

New large-scale tasks of further dynamic development of the entire complex of bilateral ties were set in the statement approved jointly with the Azerbaijani side and documents signed today will facilitate resolution of these tasks, the head of state noted.

Particular attention was paid to the buildup of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation during talks, Putin said. “This is expectable because Russia and Azerbaijan are important economic partners for each other,” he added.

Putin states positive development of economic cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan

Economic cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan has positive dynamics and good prospects for further development, said Russian President Vladimir Putin following talks with the head of the republic Ilham Aliyev.

“These almost 1,300 enterprises operating in the Azerbaijani market indicate that our [economic] situation is developing in a positive way and has good development prospects,” he said.

The head of state noted that the statement adopted jointly with the Azerbaijani side sets new large-scale tasks for the further dynamic development of the entire range of bilateral relations, and the documents signed today will contribute to solving these tasks.

During the talks, special attention was paid to increasing mutually beneficial trade cooperation, Putin said.

“This is natural, because Russia and Azerbaijan are important economic partners for each other,” the Russian leader concluded. As the Russian President pointed out, Russian companies feel comfortable in the Azerbaijani market. In particular these companies are: Lukoil oil company, Kamaz truck maker, which established an assembly plant, Sollers, UAZ. Putin also recalled that Transmashholding signed a contract in February to produce a large batch of Russian carriages for the Baku metro.

“I hope that those who use them will be satisfied with these trains,” he said. The Russian leader added that the United Shipbuilding Corporation, together with the Baku Shipyard, is starting to produce modern river-sea tankers for the transportation of oil products.

“There are development prospects, we are grateful to the Azerbaijani authorities for the conditions created for their operation (operation of Russian companies – TASS),” Putin said.

On Russian President’s visit to Azerbaijan

Putin is on a state visit in Baku on August 18-19. This is his eighth visit to Azerbaijan as the President of the Russian Federation. His first official visit took place on January 9-10, 2001. On September 27, 2018, Putin visited the country for the seventh time. He attended the World Judo Championships and spoke at the plenary session of the 9th Russian-Azerbaijani Interregional Forum.

Putin invites Azerbaijani president to CIS, BRICS events in Russia in October

Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev to the events along the lines of the CIS and BRICS slated to be held in Russia in October.

The Russian leader noted the similarity between Moscow and Baku’s approaches following Russian-Azerbaijani talks.

“A number of issues on the regional agenda were also reviewed. Naturally, given the role Azerbaijan is playing in the Caspian region and the South Caucasus,” Putin said. “We also touched on pertinent international issues. In foreign policy, our countries firmly adhere to the principle of supremacy of international law, sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs,” he added.

The Russian president noted that Moscow and Baku “closely coordinate their efforts at key international venues, including the UN, and, of course, in the Commonwealth of Independent States.”

“In October, we will be happy to see Ilham Geidarovich at a session of the Council of Heads of State [of the CIS] in Moscow, as well as at outreach sessions within the framework of the Kazan BRICS summit this October,” Putin concluded.

Russia, Azerbaijan start producing oil tankers — Putin

Russia and Azerbaijan start producing modern tankers of river-sea class, Russian President Vladimir Putin said after talks with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

“The Russian United Shipbuilding Corporation in cooperation with the Baku Shipbuilding Plant start producing modern river-sea class tankers for carriage of petroleum products. Their use, particularly on the Azov-Black Sea and Caspian routes, will make it possible to noticeably scale up deliveries of energy resources to global markets,” the Russian leader said.

Putin also noted joint plans of Russia and Azerbaijan on implementation of the North – South projects, which will make it possible “to approach coasts of the Indian Ocean and use these routes with mutual benefits and for the mutual interest.
