The High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Zareh Sinanyan, received Armen Sahakyan, Director of the Armenia branch of the Armenian Assembly of America, Anna Avagyan, Coordinator of the Assembly’s Summer Internship Program, and the program’s 2026 participants.
This year’s Summer Internship Program began on June 15 and will run through August 7. As part of the program, 11 participants from various U.S. states have traveled to Armenia. They are completing professional internships at a number of government institutions and civil society organizations, with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of Armenia’s public administration system and civil society.
During the meeting, the participants were introduced to the work, strategic programs, and key priorities of the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs. The discussion focused on Armenia’s repatriation policy and its implementation mechanisms, youth initiatives, and the engagement of the Armenian Diaspora’s potential in the country’s development.

The interns also shared their experiences, emphasizing that the program has provided them with a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand insight into life in Armenia, build meaningful professional and personal connections, and strengthen their commitment to future engagement with the country.
