“The coalition parties have already gotten an advantage, arming some majoritarian candidates with administrative leverage, not to mention money and have already distributed 40 electoral districts. Regardless of candidates’ membership to a certain party, it will be very difficult to compete with the candidates sponsored by the establishment,” Vahan Hovhannisyan, the leader of the National Assembly Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) faction, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am.
The election conditions are not equal, according to him, “Because the establishment’s majoritarian candidates will not only pile up votes for themselves, but also for the party that has armed them with money and sponsorship.”
As for the latest public opinion poll, according to which the main struggle will be between the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and the Armenian National Congress (ANC) and the other parties’ possibility of entering the National Assembly is not big, not higher than 5%, Mr. Hovhannisyan said, “I don’t think that public opinion polls in Armenia are trustworthy – I understand quite well how honest the answers can be and the answers are not honest.”
