Vahagn Khachatryan, the ANC candidate for mayor, urges Republicans “to rein in and control” neighborhood tough guys who are members of their party. Talking about the incident that had happened to the ANC activists the day before and the response of the RPA that called for a civilized election campaign, Mr. Khachatryan told www.aravot.am: “Let them make those appeals to themselves. I assure you that we are carrying it out in a civilized manner. There has been no complaint from any citizen that we have handed out our campaign material rudely. Before giving instructions to our activists, we have a short conversation with them, during which we teach them the most civilized rules of behavior. People who made the appeal know quite well who had beaten. Let them ask their Arman Sahakyan; he knows quite well who that youth that beat our activist was. We also know who he is; he is a youth by the name of Hrachik. Let them try to find him; he is a former member of the city council who has close connections with the government.” Mr. Khachatryan didn’t tell us any other details, stating that the case was under preliminary investigation.
