I have never been a militant. I am in favor of peace with two hands, both within the country and in the region, and, as they say, all over the world. I heartily wish that we have normal relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan, as it is appropriate to the neighbors. But at this time, when Azerbaijan commits abuses against Armenia and Artsakh, I consider the “peace march” held in Yerevan at least artificial and anachronistic. Any march, any political campaign should have its recipient. Against whom is this event addressed? Armenia’s authorities? If they had send soldiers, for example, to East Timor, then the march would be justified. But the Armenian soldiers are on their land and defend their land, and it should be applauded. To the West? To Russia? But they know by heart that Azerbaijan attacks us and they do not even slightly reproach on our neighbors. Consequently, they want no peace, and no “peace march” would affect them. To Azerbaijan? But people there rejoice of these marches thinking that allegedly we are so afraid of war that we are seeking for peace. Which, to put it mildly, does not express the opinion of the Armenian public.
