“There would be no judgment against them, it has happened on the verge of life and death for them, in Baghramyan”. Vardan Harutyunyan

The violent force used by the police on May 13 at Baghramyan 26 against the mothers of deceased soldiers turns out to be lawful. Just for this excuse, the SIS has dismissed the criminal case filed by sons’-lost-mothers against the policemen. Though these events have been video-recorded, and the results of the forensic examination are also available, but the SIS has not paid any attention to them, considering that the parents themselves have violated the law on Freedom of Assemblies and impeded the normal work of the presidential.

In this regard, in the conversation with Aravot.am, human rights activist Vardan Harutyunyan said that this decision was predictable, “When this incident happened to the mothers of deceased soldiers, I said that the local authorities and the courts would not consider the actions of the police illegal. No verdict would be declared against them for it had happened on the verge of life and death for them, in Baghramyan Street. Everything that is going on there, the police does not simply do it, they are instructed what to do. And it was natural that there should be such a verdict. This verdict fits the quality of local authorities.” Vardan Harutyunyan called on the parents not to give in and to apply up to the ECHR. “It is necessary to continue fighting, especially since these people are only demanding justice  for the cases of their children deceased in the peaceful conditions. They demand an open, transparent investigation and a fair trial, they do not demand a big thing from this government. They have no grounds to give up, and they must keep fighting.”
