Georgia has started a process of breaking diplomatic relations with Syria. This was stated by the Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister David Dondua at a special briefing on the recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by Syria.
According to Dondua, the Syrian side has made an illegal decision as a result of Russia’s manipulations, and violating the principles of international law has recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
“By this action, the Assad regime has supported Russia’s military aggression against Georgia and the ongoing ethnic cleansing”, Dondua stated. At the same time, he stressed that the Georgian side has started the process of breaking diplomatic relations with Syria.
