Pavel Manukyan in ‘Hospital for Convicts’

August 16,2018 18:36

During the next court hearing on the case of the “Sasna Tsrer” armed group who seized the police regiment in 2016, and are accused of several other offenses, the victim policemen, who were in the police regiment, are to be interrogated, however, the hearing is being periodically interrupted because of the absence of defendants, thus it is still not clear whether they will be interrogated or not.

Particularly, at the beginning of the session, it became clear that Pavlik Manukyan was not brought to the court because of health problems, while the other defendants of the case were not brought since the police thought the session would be delayed because of Manukyan’s absence.

Pavlik Manukyan, however, has sent a note to the court through his defender, requesting to examine petitions for changing his friends’ detention, regardless of his absence. Judge Mesrop Makyan read the note sent by the “Hospital for Convicts” of the Armenian Ministry of Justice, which said that Pavel Manukyan could not attend the session because of his health condition.

“He has a gunshot wound, ischemic heart disease, arterial hypertension and a number of other problems. He is weak, has nausea, and severe headaches”, is said in the note. The court will consider the issue of examining the petitions for changing the detention of other defendants without the presence of Manukyan.

Let us remind that Pavel Manukyan was not released at the previous session: the court rejected the petition conditioned by several circumstances.
