On February 13, 2019, Mesrobian High School received a precious and a crucial gift from YOHAN association for the health safety of the School’s students and staff. It consisted of the AED device, which is designed to save lives in case of Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

The gift was handed to the school by the Co-founder of the association, Dr. Rita Tchoukhadarian Harouni and the representatives of Lions Club Beirut. During the meeting held on this occasion, Mesrobian’s Principal Mr. Gregoire Kaloust expressed its satisfaction concerning the cooperation between the School and the above-mentioned associations. The cooperation essentially contributes to the mission of developing the health knowledge of students.

Co-founder of YOHAN Dr. Rita Harouni mentioned that Mesrobian has demonstrated an ideal participation in the matter of implementing the goals of the Association. Around two weeks ago, the upperclassmen and some staff members of Mesrobian participated in the lectures and CPR training sessions on Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

During the meeting, the AED device technician explained the rules of its use. This equipment functions with an autonomous and user-friendly way, making it possible to save the life of a person having a heart attack in the course of seconds. The technician informed that it was possible, thanks to this device, to save the life of a student in one of the Lebanese universities.

At the end of the meeting, certificates were granted to Mesrobian’s staff members who had previously participated in the first-aid course for Sudden Cardiac Arrest, organized by YOHAN.

YOHAN was founded in memory of Yohan Harouny. He was a medical student, living a healthy and active life, who died at the age of 19 due to a Sudden Cardiac Arrest. His parents, doctors Elie Harouni and Rita Tchoukhadarian Harouni, decided to transform their deep sorrow into a mission, by establishing this Association to help the youth and prevent similar tragedies. Mesrobian became the 18th Lebanese school, who received the AED device as a gift.
