My Step deputy Anush Beghloyan does not consider the accusations that the representatives of the ruling party and government do not work effectively with international organizations to have any basis.
In an interview with the deputy, Aravot Daily reminded her that there has been a lot of criticism that Azerbaijan is successful at presenting Armenia as a criminal in international organizations, whereas Armenia cannot even resolve the issue of prisoners of war or the damages caused by Turkey and Azerbaijan in the war. Regarding this, Anush Beghloyan said, “Those accusations are being made by people who are doing everything to ensure that messages written by representatives of the government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister’s office, and other state officials regarding international activities are not shared, and to ensure that only Azerbaijani propaganda, quotes from Azerbaijani officials, and information from Azerbaijani sources are spread. They are trying to create that impression using their media outlets.”
When asked about why Pashinyan signed the document regarding opening communication despite the fact that the Armenian side was unable to resolve the issue of prisoners of war during the Pashinyan-Putin-Aliyev meeting in Moscow, she said, “The post-war situation demands action in different directions, and none of these directions can remain outside of our daily work since we can face many problems in the future if we fail. The Armenian side is trying to fill the agenda with every issue that has to do with Armenia as a state and society. The issue regarding prisoners of war is at the center of attention every day, and the majority of activities that are taking place with Russian mediation is regarding the prisoners. If there is no progress at the moment, that means that we need to present our perspective and position, as well as that of the international community, in a way that is correct, and that we are not satisfied with Azerbaijan’s position. The progress that we expect to have here does not exist yet. But that doesn’t mean that we need to ignore all other issues because that will be a huge mistake. We need to work in all directions.”
When asked if she does not think that the criticism about how there has been no progress regarding the prisoners of war since we implemented Azerbaijan’s wishes, Anush Beghloyan said, “I do not see any logical connection between those two issues. What does ‘Azerbaijan’s wishes’ mean? That is a claim I do not agree with. In other words, Azerbaijan wants to open communication, we don’t, and that’s why they’re not returning our prisoners of war? So that we can open communication? That’s absurd. Those are two completely different things. Regarding the end of the blockade, the first state that will benefit from this in the region is Armenia. The conditions in which that blockade is supposed to end is another issue. That is the main purpose of negotiations. The end of the blockade needs to take place in conditions that are beneficial to Armenia and our dignity. That is our main issue.”

When reminded that the opposition considers statements that there is no mention of a “Meghri corridor” in the documents to be absurd, Anush Beghloyan said, “It is a pity that some parties have started their election campaign using unsubstantiated and even humiliating claims. They try to make evaluations about some processes which they have little information about. Or, they tend to comment on them in an illegal context that fulfills their political goals.”
Anush Beghloyan said that she does not wish to comment on emotional evaluations from Facebook and blogs. She recommended that everyone instead fulfill their own duties. She assured that she is prepared to speak and write to all Armenian citizens who have constructive and rational thoughts.
