“Today I am ready to hand over my son in exchange for our captives”: Nikol Pashinyan

December 09,2021 17:15

“I am still ready to hand over my son today in exchange for the return of the captives,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a question-and-answer session in the National Assembly-Government on December 8, responding to Armenia faction MP Elinar Vardanyan. He said that the prisoners could stay in Baku prisons for a couple more months, and then said that the cases of captivity should be investigated. “Decide for yourself, the parents standing outside are waiting for your answer. What is your position on the prisoners? Is that question closed?” Elinar Vardanyan asked.

Nikol Pashinyan noted, “Whenever there is a response from the Azerbaijani side, my proposal is valid. I would like to reaffirm that every case of captivity must be investigated. There is nothing surprising. There will be cases when there will or will not be any criminal consequences. Work is being done every day for the return of the captives, but when they return, an investigation will be carried out. I have met the parents dozens of times and you do not even know them. I know them.”

Elinar Vardanyan responded, “I know what the duty of a soldier is. Do you know your responsibilities? Second, you accuse 18-year-olds of being afraid, are indecisive, and you talk to prisoners with threats to initiate criminal cases. Where were you after November 9, were you decisive? You can not answer. We know where you were.” Pashinyan answered that he had been in his position both before and after November 9. “Have you started again? You do not decide whom I will meet with or whom I will not meet with. I know you and your thread very well.”
