“Let’s see what kind of geography we have. We are at the intersection of the West and the East, but we are closer to the region of collective security. Not to mention that as a post-Soviet country, we have been integrated. For years, RA has done serious work for the development of the military component of that military-political structure. We have been exemplary in three directions: the formation of collective operational response forces, the formation of peacekeeping forces, the CSTO military committee,” Seyran Ohanyan, deputy of the faction, former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, said in a conversation with journalists in Yerablur today, referring to the criticism of the government representatives and some sections of the public on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s attack on the CSTO.
“On our proposal, a military committee was established in the CSTO, in which the heads of the General Staff of the countries received a platform to assess the situation. In other words, when we were in power, serious work was done. Speaking of the present. Every structure has advantages and disadvantages. NATO has the same shortcomings, there are countries in conflict. For example, Turkey and Greece. If there are certain defects in the CSTO decision-making procedures, why are we happy about it, why are we happy?” asked Seyran Ohanyan.
He asked another question. “What has the current government done to strengthen the decision-making procedures in CSTO?” Not to mention that they tried to imprison our general secretary in the CSTO. Before turning to the CSTO, the Armenian government had to decide internally to mobilize the country and strengthen the rear of the army. It is an impression that the government is sleeping on the armchairs and telling others: come and protect our country.
The soldiers of another country will not come to be in our trenches instead of us.”
