Dialogue is necessary for the process of settling the Artsakh issue. Ruben Vardanyan

April 19,2023 12:00

In settling the Artsakh issue, no matter how much negative energy is accumulated or how difficult it is for both sides, we need dialogue. Ruben Vardanyan, the former State Minister of Artsakh, expressed his opinion on his Telegram channel, citing examples from international conflicts: Vietnam and the USA, from the genocide of the Tutsis in Rwanda when millions of people died due to the confrontation within a few months. Ruben Vardanyan states that complex dialogue should be civilized, and no alternative will exist. A question was raised: What is your explanation of the phrase “no step back”?

Ruben Vardanyan presented his perception of that phrase as follows: “When you understand that there is no way back and it is not possible to compromise, that is the red line you are not ready to cross under any circumstances. It is a difficult and difficult choice, and people often have the option of avoiding such a choice.

But for the people who will make such a decision, one important circumstance should be taken into account: they are ready to fight to the end, and the opponent feels it too. It happens very often, even without loud words. It’s just that you have such energy, strength, and self-confidence inside you that you will go to the end, that with that energy you break any fear, any attempt to put pressure on you.”

One of the questions was: What do you think the Diaspora should do right now? In today’s world, Ruben Vardanyan considers Diaspora to be relative because a person can live in one country and work in another. What is essential for him to be: does he consider himself a representative of any nation, and what is he ready to do? “The important thing is self-knowledge and willingness to implement various programs, to work for the homeland you have chosen for yourself.”
