“The atmosphere in the army is very immoral. The atmosphere of streets and prisons, which we don’t like, has spread on the army,” Hovhannes Igityan, a former head of the Supreme Council external affairs commission, presented the situation in the Armenian Army in this manner during a conversation with www.aravot.am.

According to him, there are internal problems, the first one of which is that atmosphere, “The second problem is incompetency of the officers, in particular, and the third problem is corruption. It is conspicuous. Look what cars, houses and property the commanding officers have. There is also another factor – they very often use the army for political purposes, mainly during elections. And those people who carry out those political instructions in the army become more impudent, more invulnerable and they continue their insolence, enrichment and the army becomes totally uncontrollable not only by the society, but also by the government itself. Because if one involves the army in an illegal act, they become accomplices.”
