“Through carrying out the demands of society and the orders of the Prime Minister, we work day and night to resolve the immense levels of corruption, the lack of punishments, and the crimes committed against economic security that took place in the past,” National Security Service leader Artur Vanetsyan said during a special session of the NSS in honor of the 100th anniversary of its creation and in honor of NSS workers’ day.
According to him, corruption in many sectors seemed to be structured like a pyramid. This means that the security of the state was in danger and was vulnerable.
Regarding the fight against corrupt schemes in the army, Artur Vanetsyan said that approximately 70 criminal cases have been filed. Those accused have been held responsible, and the damages made can reach tens of billions of Armenian dram. The illegal circulation of weapons is being investigated by the NSS. 130 people have been detained and arrested, including high-ranking officials and deputies. “It is unacceptable to steal from the army, and the NSS is fighting against that with all its might.”
According to him, over 100 types of weapons were confiscated by the NSS in the framework of these cases, as well as tens of thousands of bullets.
