August 13,2019 16:22

Arayik Ghazaryan, an Armenian soldier who was found in Azerbaijan, is from the Yeghegis village of Vayots Dzor. He went home for a legal vacation one month ago, according to the leader of the Yeghegis village, Artur Stepanyan.

“He came home for a 15-day vacation last month and had no complaints. He was in a normal relationship with the other soldiers. His brother is also a contract soldier and he was in constant contact with his brother. There were no tensions. None of us can understand why this child was found on the Azeri side. His father went to Artsakh and his brother left his post. His brother was immediately taken to the military garrison, and then to Stepanakert for an interrogation,” the village leader said.

According to him, Arayik Ghazaryan’s mother was in poor health, and when she found out about what happened, her health grew dramatically worse. She was taken to the Yeghegnadzor hospital. “We informed his mother about what happened, and she grew worse by the evening.”

The village leader said that there are rumors circulating that it was foggy outside, which caused Arayik Ghazaryan to get lost and end up on the Azeri side. But there is still no information regarding the bruises and cuts on his body or his reason for leaving the military base.
