As a result of demarcation in the Syunik Province, many people lost lands, fields, and pastures. Are there any calculations as far as how much damage has been done, and what is the government doing to help businesses? After today’s session of government, reporters addressed these questions to the Minister of Economy, Vahan Kerobyan. He assured that a working group was established, which, according to the minister, is working very effectively, and the ministry will try to ensure that no economic damage will be inflicted upon people. “Of course, we lost land that people mostly used for agriculture, but our task is to neutralize that damage.”
The minister said that during his visit to Kapan, Goris, and Meghri in the Syunik Province at the end of January, he met with many business owners, and some of the problems they spoke about have already been resolved.
In response to questions about the defeat during the Artsakh war and allegations that the ‘traitorous’ government, as the opposition calls it, played a role in this, Vahan Kerobyan said that he and his brothers fought in the war, and he was also in Hadrut. “I saw the situation there, and I understand that what happened there was a result of what our generation did over the past 30 years. Yes, there is a government that is to blame for what happened during its time in power, but I am not prepared to burden someone else with my level of responsibility as an Armenian citizen, and I am only planning on improving the situation with my work.”
He said that if we had a strong army and populated territories instead of what happened in many places, we would have had different results.
